Laura Malcom-Nuttall

Director & Course Lead (founder)

Laura is a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor & Therapeutic Coach, Clinical Supervisor & Accredited Trainer with over 20 years of experience in working with people, business and now running private practice and a training organisation.

She founded Empowering Wellbeing with a clear vision - to create a trusted, accessible home for counselling and coaching for personal healing and growth and training and professional development in South Liverpool and beyond.

Trained to teach and facilitate accredited counselling courses, Laura brings both depth of knowledge and genuine warmth to everything she does. She holds a BA Hons in Business Studies and is passionate about helping people grow, whether that's a client finding their way through a difficult time, a trainee counsellor discovering their professional voice, or an organisation investing in the wellbeing of its people.

Barbara McCormack

Course Tutor & Quality Lead

Barbara is a Person-Centred Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, qualified tutor and Life Coach. An accredited member of the BACP, Barbara brings a wealth of 15 years experience from her own private practice alongside a natural gift for teaching and mentoring.

Having worked with clients across a wide range of challenges and supervised trainees at every stage of their development, Barbara has an exceptional understanding of what makes a great counsellor, and what students need to get there.

She now teaches across Level 2, 3 and 4 counselling skills programmes, bringing rigour, care and real-world experience to every session.

Polly Winstanley

Course Tutor & Student Mentor

Polly is a BACP registered Counsellor with a deep commitment to supporting others through life's challenges. Warm, grounded and trauma-informed, she brings experience in 1-2-1 counselling, crisis support, emotional regulation and helping clients navigate mental health, grief, relationships and personal growth.

As a Course Tutor and Student Mentor, Polly creates a safe, collaborative learning environment where students feel genuinely supported. She meets people where they are and walks alongside them as they develop their skills, confidence and professional identity. Polly is trained to work with children and young people and has experience of working with domestic abuse and relationships.
